Founded 20 years ago as a Swisscom spin-off, Sicap now works with 80 mobile operators and MVNOs in 76 countries. Its international team is available worldwide to ensure excellent customer service.

Sicap solutions are built on its superior expertise in mobile device intelligence, SIM and device management and big data analytics. The solutions are grouped into three areas: Device and SIM Management, Customer Insight and Engagement and Mobile Security.


All Sicap’s solutions are available through Cloud delivery model to give customers a quick deployment time, minimized upfront investment and low operational costs. Alternatively, the solutions can be delivered as on-premise deployments.

Our Story

In 1997 a small team of ingenious Swiss engineers from a leading telecommunications service provider, Swisscom, invented the World’s first SIM-based solution for prepaid billing. Despite that their solution was simple and turned out as an efficient revenue generator, network based prepaid billing technologies soon took over the entire market and the team was forced to stop the development of the SIM-based prepaid solution. 

Instead of quitting, the entrepreneur-minded team decided to re-focus the mobile network know-how they had gained into SIM over-the-air management, device management and USSD solutions. This brave decision eventually paved its way into the international telecom markets. Sicap was founded!

Today, Sicap is a profitable and growing business headquartered in Baar, Switzerland. It has a strong global presence and an impressive list of customers featuring more than 80 mobile service providers and virtual operators in 76 countries.

Sicap has systematically continued developing the most essential parts of its original technology stack while complementing it with the latest telecom and internet technologies and real-time big data analytics.

Sicap’s solution portfolio has evolved to help mobile service providers globally in Customer insight and engagement, device and SIM management and mobile security.

Sicap’s Vision

Telecom operators have lacked automated over-the-air (OTA) device configuration functionalities, until recently. Thanks to the Device Entitlement Server (DES) it’s easy to configure various services including IMS, Voice over LTE (VoLTE), Video over LTE (ViLTE), Voice over WiFi and Rich Communications Service (RCS). 

The Device Entitlement Server (DES) opens the doors to more possibilities in smartwatch pairing. Smartwatch users are growing and the market value is projected to reach US$ 88.7 billion by 2027. The leading device is the Apple Watch, with over 100 million users in 2020, according to Statista.

DES allows to entitle Apple and Android Watches to use IMS services via smartphone paired through Bluetooth. Sicap is at the forefront of smartwatch pairing and provides robust solutions to respond and encourage wearable technology adoption and evolution. 

It’s no secret that successful business strategies are customer-centric. In a world full of information, the best way to cut through the noise and reach the audience is to connect and engage in a meaningful way and in the right moment.

Sicap has been helping telecommunications providers in this path to engagement. Our Target Me solution features analytics and segmentation of the subscriber base, providing business insights and a deeper understanding of the audience. It retrieves real-time data from a network, databases and devices and enables engagement through targeted and personalized SMS messages, which are delivered automatically in real-time when a subscriber matching a specific segment is detected.

In the coming years, the trusted reputation of mobile services becomes operators an increasingly important value to protect due to the growing frequency of cyber-attacks and IT security and privacy breaches. Sicap’s Equipment Identity Register (EIR) plays a central role, enabling mobile service providers to protect their subscribers and networks from malfunctioning, fraudulent and stolen mobile devices.

Global migration, market regulation and security concerns impose more homeland security requirements on mobile service providers. The regulations and the growing awareness of security issues increase operators’ costs in the future. The Safer solution, developed by Sicap, enables operators and government entities to conform to international homeland security regulations, providing security optimized real-time data analytics on devices.

Through its Mobile Security offering Sicap wants to enable operators to cost-efficiently conform to even the most demanding homeland security requirements and public security expectations.

Abdeltif is a PhD holder in Physical Chemistry from Orasy University – PARIS XI as well as a master's degree in Computer Science from INSA Engineering School (Lyon-France). He worked as a scientist in an international environment (France, USA and The Netherlands) for more than 10 years. With 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry and more than 14 years with Sicap, Abdeltif managed to develop the Sicap business with the major mobile operators, especially in the Middle East and North Africa.
