Switzerland is the country where the foundation for sicap was laid. As early as 1994 a small team of ingenious engineers from Switzerland’s leading telecommunications service provider, Swisscom, invented PPB technology. Network Near Solutions, SIM OTA and Mobile Device Management have always been the core of our company. In 2013, after almost 20 years Swisscom decided to sell Sicap to members of the former management. Sicap has a strong presence with an impressive list of customers featuring more than 80 MNOs globally. A large part of Sicap's highly skilled workforce for sales and delivery are based in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Abidjan, Moscow, Johannesburg, Delhi and Bucharest. Experts, based in Lyon, Zug, Moscow and Kolkata are responsible for continuing sicap's track record in developing pioneering solutions.

Operators are looking to manage customer experiences. The start of every customer experience is in the customer’s own hands – the mobile device. Operators must know in real time of changes in their device base and instantly interact with the customers. Detect which device the user holds in his/her hands and serve their individual needs. The operator’s reaction can range from dynamically configuring the traditional SIM card the newer iSIM or eSIM to sending device settings for data, VoLTE or IPv6. Operators will want to upsell customers on a special rate plan for their new LTE phone according to the customer’s current location, which could be linked to LTE network coverage. Some of our customers use the system as a hub for all device information linking to BI infrastructure, call centers and self helps. One customer even changes the device specific tariff plan in the billing system when customers swap their phones from a Blackberry to iPhone over the weekend.

Sicap‘s SIM OTA and Device Management Centre solution allows operators ’s to perform all this based on a platform specifically designed for the smartphone era. It addresses the demands of a volatile and dynamic smartphone landscape, taking advantage of its performance and scalability to address small and large operators. The solution is based on a highly scalable multi tenancy architecture, which allows for flexible multi country and operator-group deployments as well as the servicing of MVNOs.

Sicap has historically been strong integrating with mobile networks and creating solutions near to the mobile network. Messaging includes services like USSD menu browsing, SMS delivery, gift-SMS and collect SMS services. Voice solutions include services like collect call, virtual numbers, roaming call-back and credit transfer. These services are unified in a single platform that is IMS and now LTE ready.

USSD menu browsing allows easy access for all features phones, addressing many customer needs such as customer self-care, mobile money, social networking, “web”- shopping, nearest service to your location and more. Sicap has developed a dynamic UMB menu which adopts according to the user – pushing favourites of the user or targeted offers and advertisement. Implemented Collect call features range from automatic whitelisting for your children to sponsored calls or even sponsored SMSs. Advertisement is strategic for operators leveraging their customer base. Sicap’s USSD Tails function allows advertisement to be inserted into the tail of USSD messages, providing the operator flexible, customized and relevant customer interaction. The Sponsoring function allows for sponsored calls or SMS, which contain targeted advertising messages.

Sicap‘s USSD & Voice team tailors network-near solutions to the operator‘s needs. Implementation is performed in the shortest timeframe and delivers ready-to-use applications. Despite ever increasing value-added services and data usage driven by the rise of smartphones, a major revenue drivers in the mobile telecoms market remains voice services and text messaging.
